About us

Dyyna comes from Präparatekiste

The preparation work behind Dyyna began in 1968 on Hof Eichwerder, a farm on Germany’s Baltic coast. Präparatekiste grew out of it.

Our story

  1. 1968

    Hof Eichwerder goes biodynamic

Wedig von Bonin converts Hof Eichwerder in Ostholstein to biodynamic farming. He is one of the first Demeter farmers in northern Germany. With Maria Thun, whose name the biodynamic sowing calendar carries, he makes the first trials with barrel compost. It becomes his favourite preparation, and he makes it on Eichwerder for around thirty years.

  2. From the 1980s

Sought after in the biodynamic world

For decades Wedig is a sought-after speaker for the biodynamic idea. Farms in many countries ask him for advice on the preparations and the constellations. He sends his own preparations to friends and to farms that do not make their own.

  3. 1994

    Simon comes to Eichwerder

As a child, Simon moves to the farm with his parents. Wedig’s passion for intact ecosystems and biodiversity inspires him.

  4. 2007

    The first preparations partnership

Wedig and Simon found a partnership for biodynamic preparations on the farm. In Dornach they present the world’s first online shop for biodynamic preparations. Their aim: people without a Demeter farm of their own should be able to work with the preparations too.

  5. 2008

    Online as fladenpraeparat.de

The shop goes online as fladenpraeparat.de. At first it offers only barrel compost after Maria Thun.

  6. 2017

    Präparatekiste

After Wedig’s death, Simon takes over the preparation work from Eichwerder and carries it on as Präparatekiste, with preparations, equipment and materials for making them yourself. In winter the first Präparatebrief goes out. It becomes one of the most widely read media on biodynamics.

  7. 2019

    A new sign

Präparatekiste gets a new logo, a cow’s head. At the top sits the lying crescent moon from Wedig’s old logo, which is also the cow’s horns. Below it stands the stirring barrel. Dyyna carries the same sign today.

  8. 2021

    Dyyna is founded

By now the work reaches far beyond the preparations: knowledge, garden supplies, tools. It needs a name that carries more. Dyyna.bio stands for bio-dynamics, a whole cosmos for the biodynamic way of farming. Its first aim is to make biodynamics easier to reach for home gardens.

  9. 2022

    The Dyyna shop goes online

In early February dyyna.bio starts as a shop, with small quantities of preparations and supplies for the biodynamic garden. From then on Präparatekiste mainly serves farms, vineyards, market gardens and orchards.

  10. 2024

Move to the Wir bauen Zukunft site

Präparatekiste and Dyyna move to Nieklitz in Mecklenburg, to the site of the Wir bauen Zukunft cooperative. A community-supported farm and an organic kitchen for day-care centres work there too.

  11. 2024

    Dyyna Nexus

Dyyna Nexus starts as a knowledge platform on biodynamic practice, for farms and for home gardens.

  12. 2025

    Merger with Rankwerk

Präparatekiste and Dyyna merge with Rankwerk, a popular company for biodynamic seeds. Since then all three brands belong to Rankwerk GmbH in Kiel.

  13. 2026

Drought guide, preparations handbook, planting calendar

The much-noticed drought guide, the preparations handbook and the biodynamic planting calendar are developed.

  14. Today

    dyyna.bio in ten languages

Here you find the biodynamic planting calendar, the calendar for every day and the biodynamic glossary.

  15. Next

    The biodynamic garden planner

In the works is a garden planner for biodynamic practice: plan your beds, time sowing and care by the calendar, and schedule the preparations at the right moment.
