What it is for
A sheath of warmth for compost and plants. Frost protection. Encourages flowering. Stimulates phosphorus activity in the soil.
Dose and application
Frost protection: 5 ml valerian flower extract in 30–35 L of lukewarm water/ha, stir for 20 min (home garden: 3–5 ml in 10 L). Spray finely over vulnerable plants in the evening, in still air, before the expected frost night. For compost: 2–5 ml extract in 1 L of lukewarm rainwater, stir for 10–20 min, pour over the heap as the last preparation (after 502–506). After hail: spray valerian straight away – promotes regeneration and normal ripening of damaged plants (Masson). To encourage flowering: highly diluted (1 ml/10 L) over flowering crops.
