Trine

Seen from the Earth, two celestial bodies stand 120 degrees apart, a third of the circle. If both stand in front of constellations of the same element, the biodynamic calendar speaks of a trine in one element.

What is a trine?

A trine is the position of two celestial bodies at an angle of 120 degrees, measured along the ecliptic. The name comes from the Greek trigonon, triangle: three points 120 degrees apart divide the circle into equal parts.

In the zodiac the elements follow one another three times in the same order. Constellations of the same element therefore lie roughly a third of the circle apart, for example Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Two planets in trine therefore often stand in front of constellations of the same element. Because the constellations differ in width, this is not always the case. In 2027 there are 37 trines between the Sun and the planets, 28 of them in the same element.

Trine and trine in one element

If both wandering stars stand in front of constellations of the same element, the biodynamic calendar speaks of a trine in one element. Around its moment the element of the trine is at work, and the calendar shows the matching day type for a few hours. The wandering stars are the Sun and the planets.

Trine in the tree times

When a tree’s planet stands in trine to another wandering star, the Dyyna calendar records a felling time for that tree. The sowing times depend on opposition. Both apply only on days without an unfavourable window.
