Soil

Soil building and regenerative practice

Compost

Keep the compost heap moist – in dry spells cover it with a tarpaulin or water it regularly. Drying out stops decomposition completely.

Wassermanagement

Watering in the morning is ideal: soil takes up the most water when it has cooled down. At midday too much evaporates, and in the evening it attracts slugs.

Green manure

Sow cover on harvested beds straight away! Never leave them bare – every day without plant cover costs soil life and humus. Phacelia or buckwheat germinates quickly.
